Residence Permit Application - UX Design Graduate Project
Designing a mobile app to simplify the residence permit process for Ukrainian citizens in Poland
This project was completed as part of my postgraduate studies in User Experience Design at SWPS University (2019–2020). Working in a team of five, we designed a digital solution to address real challenges faced by Ukrainian citizens applying for a residence permit in Poland.

Our design process covered the full UX cycle: desk research, user interviews, personas, and customer journey mapping. We defined business strategy with tools like the Business Model Canvas and MVP planning, then moved into prototyping and usability testing. The proposed Android app aimed to streamline the application process by offering bilingual support (Polish/Ukrainian), an interactive to-do list, document management (OCR scanning, autofill, cloud storage), deadline reminders, and access to volunteer assistance from the "Ukraine Foundation". My role included: + Conducting desk research and user interviews + Defining business strategy and MVP features + Designing low- and high-fidelity wireframes + Prototyping and testing in Axure RP + Creating UI design, illustrations, and supporting graphics
This graduate project not only strengthened my UX research and design skills but also taught me the value of designing for social impact. By addressing real-world challenges faced by immigrants, our solution showcased how thoughtful UX can make administrative processes more accessible, efficient, and human-centered.
